With the launch of the Playsation Portable (PSP) in late 2004, Sony introduced the first real competition for Nintendo in the handheld gaming market. The hotly awaited device has an upscale feel and a price tag of around $250 making it clearly aimed at an older, more sophisticated crowd than Nintendo's Game Boy Advance and DS hanhelds.
PSP Features:- Large 4.3-inch 16:9 widescreen LCD TFT display (480x272 resolution)
- USB 2.0 connectivity (via mini-USB)
- Memory Stick Duo media slot
- 802.11b WiFi support
While the PSP's processing power is roughly equivalent to the original Playstation console, PSP games are stored on a new Universal Media Disc (UMD) format. Additional support for Sony's Memory Stick media allows the PSP to be used as a digital audio player and photo viewer.
